    Customer Problem

The store’s air conditioner was not cooling.

    Diagnosis

Steve found a blown low-voltage fuse. While continuing the diagnosis, he installed a resettable diagnostic fuse. He then found that a low-voltage wire had been rubbing against a copper refrigerant line. The wire insulation had worn away, allowing the exposed conductor to contact the copper line and create the short that blew the fuse.

    Repair Performed

Steve repaired the damaged wire and secured it so it would not rub against the refrigerant line again. After correcting the short, he removed the resettable diagnostic fuse and installed the proper fuse.

    Outcome

Steve tested the rooftop package unit, and cooling and operation were normal at that time.

Air Care Heating & Cooling completed a commercial heating repair in Campbell, CA 95008 after a commercial package unit stopped providing heat. Technician Kintroy diagnosed the heating problem and found that the inducer motor was not running. The inducer motor is part of the heating system’s startup and safety sequence — when the inducer motor does not operate properly, the heating system will not proceed with normal heating operation. Kintroy traced the problem to the capacitor serving the inducer motor. The capacitor was replaced, the heating system was restored to operation, and the client had heat again the same day.
